President's Message

June 22, 2015

As the school year comes to an end and we head into another summer, it's been a busy few months for OTEI. In 2015 OTEI has hosted over 200 students during a series of Study Tours that were held at Metropolitan Golf Links. As always, Gary Ingram, CGCS did a wonderful job with the students and everyone involved had a great time during these fun and educational events.

On August 10th, Metropolitan Golf Links will once again host the Googie and Friends Golf Tournament. This tournament benefits all of the junior golf programs in Oakland which not only includes OTEI but Ace Kids Golf, Lake Chabot Junior Golf Academy, the Metropolitan Junior Golf Program and The First Tee of the East Bay. We hope many of you can join us that day to be part of this great event. You can also participate by making a cash or auction/raffle donation or sponsoring a tee. Remember, in the end this tournament will support the youth that participate in all of the programs throughout Oakland. Entry and sponsorship information can be found on www.playmetro.com/googie or by stopping by the golf course.

The Googie and Friends tournament is about collaboration. While each program has its own unique characteristics we are all there for the common goal of serving the youth of the community. By working together we can make each of our individual programs stronger by being able to share these special talents with one another. Googie will be 92 this year and we hope to continue the success we had last year in which each program received $6000 through the support of this tournament.

Please remember that we need your support to be able to continue to serve the youth of Oakland. We also are always looking for volunteers to help with Study Tours so if you have some free time please contact us about how you might be able to help.

Thanks and have a great summer!!!!

Gary Carls, CGCS
